The German Limes stretches from the Rhine just north of Koblenz to the Danube close to Regensburg and defended from 150 years the German and Gallic provinces. Over the last 15 years German researchers have spent large amounts of money to review the original findings of the excavations of the early 1900s and have created a new and vibrant picture of the history of this Roman Frontier and its fall in the first half of the third century.
