A Most Wanted Man, Anton Corbijn 2014

Alan Sennett and Creina Mansfield

This film day school examines A Most Wanted Man, a hard-hitting John Le Carré novel and movie (Dir. Anton Corbijn). Released in 2014 and set in contemporary Hamburg, it focuses on Issa Karpov, a Chechen Moslem refugee, who becomes the centre of an international anti-terrorist investigation. The Issa Karpov character is based on Murat Kunaz, who became one of the real-life victims of ‘extraordinary rendition’, abducted and detained in the infamous ‘off-shore’ interrogation centre at Guantanamo Bay.
