The pressures of late antiquity changed the way Romans, and especially young Roman men wished to be seen by their peers. Physical fitness, the ability to own and ride fast horses, the need to measure up to the \u2018military men\u2019 all contributed to create a distinct culture, which is not that dissimilar to the \u2018young bucks\u2019 of the British Regency period. This dayschool will look at the archaeological evidence of this culture as well as how it relates to some of the literature of the period and how this culture fitted with the rest of society. Expect lots of mosaics!<\/p>\n
