This introductory archaeology course will study the beginnings of society in Britain from the Ice Age to the eve of the arrival of the Romans. Research in the 21st<\/sup> century is revolutionising our understanding of these first communities to occupy Britain. Drawing on this new evidence, the course will look at the evidence for the first humans, the transition from hunter-gathering to farming, the introduction of metal use and the growth of ritual and religion.
