By studying these two works side-by-side we shall meet their composers at the summit of their powers, and investigate the changing relationship between Robert and Clara Schumann and their young friend.<\/p>\n<p>Over the twenty years between the works, Brahms developed from Robert\u2019s prot\u00e9g\u00e9 to a steadfast friend of Clara and her children after Robert\u2019s early death. We shall meet this fascinating trio of remarkable musicians through their writings as well as through these warmly expressive and ground-breaking compositions.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Thursday May 12th\u00a0 \u00a0 10am \u2013 12.30<br \/>\nSchumann &#8211;\u00a0 \u00a0Piano Quintet in E flat Op. 44<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Thursday\u00a0 <\/strong><strong>May 19th 10am \u2013 12.30<br \/>\nBrahms \u2013 Piano Quintet in F minor Op. 64<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Each morning will consist of two one-hour lecture\/discussions delivered via Zoom.
