In this 2-3 hour walking lecture, we will explore the archaeology and history of the Bollin Valley at Wilmslow. Starting from the railway viaducts, we will explore what is known and what remains of Wilmslow\u2019s history in the Bollin Valley from prehistory to the 20th<\/sup> century, incl. the railway history, \u00a0the old Mill sites, the area around the bridge and the church and its quarries, the historic park and plantings, as well as the old roads from Manchester between Twinnies Bridge and the Pownall and Hawthorn estate.<\/p>\n Date<\/strong>: Saturday July 2nd, 2022\u00a0 \u00a0 Time<\/strong>: 14.00-16\/17.00<\/p>\n Duration<\/strong>: 2-3hrs, depending on walking speed and weather.<\/p>\n Requirements<\/strong>: Please bring suitable shoes and outerwear.<\/p>\n Meeting point<\/strong>: The railway viaduct at the junction of Ladyfield Terrace and Bollin Walk (parallel to the A538), the endpoint will be Grove Street in Wilmslow. Parking can be found at the Parish Hall or the Leisure Centre Car Park.
