From the Roman period onwards watermills were used to do the work of animals and people. While the Roman mainly used them for grinding grain, the technology continued to develop through the early medieval period and by the 10th century we begin to see watermills being used for other industries, like textile and leather processing and mining.<\/p>\n
This dayschool will explore the differences in mill construction and function and how this laid the foundations for the industrial period.<\/p>\n
