Highly mobile, they also provided a route of contact stretching between East and West and frequently interacted with the states to the South positively and negatively. This course will follow some of these tribes through their history.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 18.0pt; vertical-align: baseline;\"><strong>23 January<\/strong>: The Scythians of Siberia<br \/>\n<strong>30 January:<\/strong> Yuezhi<br \/>\n<strong>6 February:\u00a0<\/strong> The Huns<br \/>\n<strong>13 February<\/strong>: The Jurchen and Liao \u2013 The conquerors of Northern China<br \/>\n<strong>20 February: Halfterm<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>27 February:<\/strong> The Scythians go west<br \/>\n<strong>6 March:<\/strong> Scythians and Greeks<br \/>\n<strong>13 March<\/strong>: Sarmatians<br \/>\n<strong>20 March<\/strong>: Avars<br \/>\n<strong>27 March: <\/strong>Chazars &#8211; the Southern trading partners of the Vikings?<strong><br \/>\n3 April: <\/strong>The Polovtsi, Qipcaq and Kumani \u2013 friends &amp; foes of the Kiev Rus and Byzantium<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 18.0pt; vertical-align: baseline;\"><span style=\"color: #2b2b2b;\">Please note all lectures will be recorded and distributed to the participants at the beginning of the next week.
