An introduction to the very varied world of Modern Underwater archaeology.<\/strong><\/p>\n When, in the 1950s, the first aqualungs became available, it led to the discovery of a world of underwater sites that few people up to then had thought they would be able to study. In the 75 years since then, the field has grown through new equipment and techniques, allowing us to tell the story of how humans interacted with water (and how water impacted their lives) for over 10000 years. This course is going to look at the different sites and the stories and facts we have been able to glean from them, from the Doggerbank, to the Treasure ships and catastrophic inundations, to understanding trade through the centuries.<\/p>\n Please note all lectures will be recorded and distributed to the participants the following week.
