Zoom course: A new Look at Hadrian’s Wall

Birgitta Hoffmann

The last ten years have seen a lot of research and excavations on Hadrian’s Wall and its fort. From the new research at Vindolanda to the discoveries of a new bathhouse in Carlisle and the research into the hinterland fort at Whitley Castle in the middle of the Cumbrian mining district to the discoveries on how the civilian population responded to the Roman presence on both sides of the Pennines. This day will look at what is new and how it has changed how we think Hadrian’s Wall operated.
