The Romans and after them the Byzantines, Arabs, Normans, Hohenstaufen and Angevins left numerous remains in Sicily from villas like Piazza Armerina, battle sites like the wrecks of the Egadi Islands to the Churches and Palaces of Palermo. This dayschool will focus on the 1500 years, when Sicily became a byword for luxury and high civilisation in the Mediterranean.
