How did it all start? The Earliest centuries of Pompeii

A day-long exploration of the archaeological evidence for Pompeii before the third century BC with Birgitta Hoffmann

When Pompeii was destroyed in 79AD it could look back on nearly 600 years of history. Excavations in the last 40 years have discovered many traces of the early centuries of Pompeii’s history when the town developed on crossroads of Greek, Etruscan and Samnite influences, creating a rich cultural atmosphere that survived until the very end pf Pompeii’s existence.
