This course explores German society, politics and culture during the Weimar Republic using extensive footage from contemporary feature and documentary films of the 1920s such as The Cabinet of Dr Caligari, Nosferatu, Metropolis, The Threepenny Opera, M, The Blue Angel and others.  We will be examining some historical debates surrounding the major political, social and cultural events of the period.
