Roman mosaics are rightly famous, but where did the tradition of patterned floors come from? This course follows the development of patterned floors from Greece and the palaces of Macedonia and Pergamon, to the great houses of the Roman Republic and the 1 c. CE.

9 June: Augustus and Opus Sectile: The philosophy of “if you have it, flaunt it.”
