Summer Walks: The Railways and Macclesfield.

Birgitta Hoffmann

The arrival of the railways in Macclesfield changed the town, it allowed the development of more industry and the chance of exporting Macclesfield’s prized silk products further afield, but it also changed the geography of the town and created entire new quarters. This walk is going to visit the sites of some of the evidence from this period and revisit some of the events that took place around the railway.
