In view of the current, fast-moving COVID-19 situation and the recommendation to self-isolate, MANCENT has decided to set up for the coming months a limited programme of distance learning for those interested.
In view of the widely varying skills of all members of MANCENT to manoeuvre the social spaces of the web, we are introducing these programmes gradually and with increasing IT-literate sophistication.
Our great inspiration for this is the wonderful system that the Australian Schools of the Air have been running for over 50 years with great success.
So to start with we are offering courses that will come with a workbook, that allows you to prepare for the classes on your own and which we will follow up by discussing the topic over the phone.
If you feel comfortable with Skype, we are happy to set these calls up face to face or even as a small group (don’t worry, the technology headache is entirely on our side for this one).
All the technology you will need for the following courses is a letterbox or email and a phone!
Please, note you can book these courses either with an informal letter giving the information requested in the booking form (and accompany your booking by a cheque) or by email indicating your prefered form of payment.
We hope to post the details for all these courses in the coming days:
- Tales of High Adventure and Magic: Apuleius’ Golden Ass
- Advanced German Conversation
- Learning Latin
- Learning to Read Roman inscriptions (when you don’t know Latin).
- Learning to do Maths the Greek and Roman way or what antiquity did without a Zero.
- Wilmslow Community Archaeology
