MANCENT conference: ‘Divine Performance: Music, Dance and Prayer in the Ancient World’

Religious ceremonies are always a little bit also a theatre of the senses. Performances in costumes, musical interludes and striking visual aides have characterised them since early on in ancient times. This conference will look at how the ceremonies differed between cultures and draw out, if there are any common elements.
