  • Birgitta Hoffmann: The history and architecture of Fort EbenEmael
  • Steve Millward: Songs of Resistance

Wednesday series

Session 1: 29th July

  • Kevin Harrison: Atlantic slavery & the ZongSlave ship case (1781-83)

Session 2: 5th August

  • Birgitta Hoffmann: The White Rose resistance in Nazi Germany
  • Creina Mansfield: Hans Fallader’s Alone in Berlin (1947)

Session 4: 19th August

  • Andrew Jones: Why the North won the American Civil War
  • Steve Millward: Music of the American Civil War

Session 5: 26th August

  • Tim Cockitt: Historical Tourism, with particular reference to visiting battlefields, and Dark Tourism (but no gruesome pictures).
  • Kevin Harrison: Native Americans in the US Civil War
