Zoom: REVOLT AGAINST THE WEST: INDIA & BURMA 1890-1954

Kevin Harrison, Martin R. Jervis, Creina Mansfield & Alan Sennett

We present two day schools linked by a common theme – the demand by India and Burma for independence. We also examine the impact of imperial Japanese attempts to exploit the situation. However, although independence was achieved by both nations in 1947, it came at a price – as the Bandung Conference (held in Indonesia in 1954) was to demonstrate.
