This course offers you a chance of mastering the Latin language and its highly logical grammar. The course aims to get you proficient at reading your first genuine Latin text at the end of 10 weeks and along the way enjoy this beautiful language but offers you the chance to continue beyond that to be able to read complex Latin writers.

The course will be tailormade to suit your interest and abilities drawing on a wide range of textbooks and exercises.

Teaching methods:

The course will be taught as a weekly Zoom session, where we explore aspects of the Latin language and practice sentences to translate, as well as review your homework. You will then be set a series of exercises to practice with over the next week.

The course can be taught as Latin/English or Latin/German, depending on your preference.

Requirements: It would be useful if you had a English-Latin dictionary. This can, however, be found online at various locations.

Monday 11.00-12.00 BST starting October 4th, 2021 or at a mutually convenient time after that.

Wednesday 11.00-12.00 BST starting October 5th, 2021 for MEDIEVAL/CHURCH LATIN (*). or at a mutually convenient time after that. 

(*) Please, note that learning Medieval Latin still requires a solid grounding in Classical Latin, so the exercise text will be chosen as far as possible from medieval authors, but you might encounter the colosseum in the early stages.
