Amor and Psyche – The Lovers Reunited

Birgitta Hoffmann

Amor and Psyche is the longest and for many the most romantic of the stories told in Apuleius’ Golden Ass. A story of love found and then lost, it has a very strong female character, some very evocative Latin prose and some truly lively descriptions on the behaviour of Roman women amongst themselves.

The second part of the story describes the travels and trials of Psyche to find her lost husband and their eventual happy reunion.

If you intend to study the Golden Ass through Latin, please ensure that your Latin is good enough. It certainly would be useful if you had a English-Latin dictionary. This can, however, be found online . The Latin text can be found here: https://www.thelatinlibrary.com/apuleius.html.
