Latin on Tuesday: Livy, Ab Urbe Condita Book 1 and Latin Prose Composition

In the autumn we will be continuing our pattern of to translating Livy’s Ab urbe Condita Book 1.

and discuss why these stories were so important to Augustan Rome. In alternate weeks we will be doing Prose Composition exercises. The are translations from English into Latin, to further our understanding of both Latin Grammar and style,we are using Andrew Leigh’s Latin Prose Composition.

Other learning materials will be provided, but a Latin/English dictionary will be useful, but can be found online.

Newcomers are always welcome but should ensure that they are familiar with Latin grammar and vocabulary at roughly A-level or beyond, feel free to ask to come for a trial session if you are unsure.
