The letter to the Hebrews has a distinct, polished literary style and its theology and method of argument also set it apart. Though tradition claims it to be by Paul it is in reality an anonymous tract. Its high view of Christ as High Priest of the heavenly and not the earthly temple and its contrast of the old covenant and the new are unique in the New Testament. This course will explore the background and meaning of this fascinating text and its use throughout Christian history.
