The UNESCO session of 2021 in July added over 30 new World Heritage Sites to the existing list, representing both new sites and substantial additions to existing series of World Heritage Sites such as the ‘Frontiers of the Roman Empire’. In the Autumn we will explore 10 of the new archaeological sites from all over the world.

30 September: Arslantepe Mound/Turkey – one of the earliest cities in the world
7 October: The Jomon Prehistoric Sites of Northern Japan
14 October : Dholavira: A Harappan City on the Indus
21 October: The Limes on the Rhine in Germany and the Netherlands
28 October: Rosia Montana Gold Mining Area in Rumania/Ancient Dacia
4th November: The Danube Limes in Germany, Austria and Slovakia
11 November: Break
18th November: The High Medieval Jewish sites in Worms, Speyer and Mayence, Germany
25 November: Quanzhou: Capital of Song China
2nd December: The Dutch Water Defences of the early modern era
9th December: The Slate Landscape of Northwest Wales
