An exploration of Late Roman Mosaics from Britain to Syria.

The late third and fourth century is possibly one of the best periods to study floor mosaics in Rome. The wealth invested in the designs is impressive and the quality speaks to a large number of local workshop, many specialising in unique designs.

19th January Starting from the top: the Imperial palace at Thessaloniki

26th January the mosaics from the Imperial palaces in Illyricum and Serbia

2 February The western court: the Imperial residence at Trier

9 February Germany and Gaul away from the palaces

16 February  The Iberian peninsula

23 February Halfterm

2 March  North Africa

9 March  North Africa II and Sicily 

16 March Asia Minor

23 March Daphne and Syria

30 March meanwhile back home: Homegrown designs in Roman Britain.
