Archaeology of the Western and Northern Isles III: The Shetland Isles

The Shetlands are the northernmost of the Scottish Isles and historically and geographically much closer to Scandinavia. This dayschool will look into the archaeology of the islands, from prehistory and the Broch at Mousa to the substantial evidence for Viking presence on the islands to its role as a major supply centre to the medieval fish trade, as well as a link to Iceland.
