Grain Trade in Ancient Rome

Mithras

Mithras reliefs are one of the most easily recognized form of Roman sculpture in the Roman provinces. But what do we really know about the religion behind the ‘Slaying of the bull’. Was it really a religion of the soldiers? Did it really come from Persia?

Roman Trier

Home to the Porta Nigra and the Palace basilica. Trier has an impressive of Roman ruins as well as many mentions in Roman literature, especially from Late antiquity.

This lecture will explore the origin of the town and why it became so important.
